OpenOffice.org is a free office suite that is widely used across multiple Operating Systems. The current stable release is 2.4.1. However, OpenOffice.org is set to release version 3.0 with a bevy of new features. One of the biggest features is support with Mac OS X. OpenOffice.org will run like an Aqua application and will include functionality Mac OS X accessibility APIs. I have 2.4.1, and I’ll probably upgrade to this- I love Open Office. It’s a great alternative to Microsoft, and in a lot of ways, much friendlier, not to mention cheaper.

Its a decent program but still has a long way to go to reach the Office suite.
I enjoy that many Linux installs offer it as a standard piece of software, that makes the lives of many easier when working with Linux for the first time.

I remember hearing about something like this in Dr. Doll’s class last Spring. I am not sure that I have tried it, but now I will!!!!

Well, it is Official, OpenOffice is up and ready. The first day it was experiencing server issues due to demand.
